Screaming Trees - Shadow of the Season

by acostill on September 26th, 2007

“Shadow of the Season” is from the Screaming Trees’ 1992 album, Sweet Oblivion.

It’s a killer a song from one of Seattle’s forgotten bands. Gary Lee Conner’s guitar sounds like something that would influence Queens of the Stone Age, there’s fantastic drumming from Barrett Martin and Mark Lanegan’s husky voice make this song a one of a kind track. It’s a perfect song to help sequque into the fall.

Check out the video, and I bet you’ll be singing along at the end.

Well, I cannot see said video as it’s saying I need some sort of plug-in. But no worries I’d love it anyhow. Sweet Oblivion was one of my favorite albums of that era. I love every single song on it. There’s a much longer story here full of past mate obsessions and long warm Arizona nights but I’ll just say this album always brings back fond (and somewhat forlorn) memories. Ah. I love your blog.

Technology is such a pain sometimes, here’s a link to You Tube (I didn’t post this one because the embedding was disabled): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWZoESAq72Q

I’m glad that your enjoying my posts. I heard once that music is the soundtrack of our lives, I believe it was Glenn Frey. Anyways, I couldn’t agree more, I have so many songs that spark memories, good and bad. Life would be so boring without music.

Back to the Screaming Trees…they’re a great band and Sweet Oblivion is a great album. It’s a shame that they kind of got ignored, because of all the other bands that were around. They had some awesome musicians in their band too, it sucks that they’re not around anymore.
