Pearl Jam’s Self-Pollution Radio

by acostill on May 15th, 2008

Back on January 8, 1995 Pearl Jam took over the airwaves of hundreds of radio stations across the globe.

Self Pollution Radio, as it was called, was a three hour plus broadcast from Eddie’s home in Seattle that featured live performances from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Mad Season and the Fastbacks. The band also spun some new and old tunes, called up friends like Mike Watt, joked around and discussed some serious social issues with in studio guests like Krist Novoselic (who know, the bassist from Nirvana).

This was a great broadcast for any 90’s fan, but it must have been mind blowing for Pearl Jam fans. I wish more bands would do something awesome like this today.

Here’s what Pearl Jam played live during the broadcast:

Set 1: Spin the Black Circle, Satan’s Bed, Corduroy, Not for You, Immortality
Set 2: jam, Last Exit, Blood, Tremor Christ, Porch, Indifference

There was so much going on during the broadcast that I’d be foolish to try and explain more, so if you desire, check it out for yourself right here.

And, for more info on the show make sure to check out MonkeywrenchRadio.org, where you’ll find all you need to know about Self Pollution Radio.

Here’s a couple of sweet tracks to hold you over while the download completes.
