Nirvana - Sappy
One of my favorite Nirvana songs, which I’ve been playing a lot. For me, it’s a great song to explain those times when you just feel trapped in life. Whether it’s because of a relationship, work, or just life in general. It helps me feel less overwhelmed. Although, I think it’s rather obvious that this is about a girl in a confined life, but I let it work for me anyways.
“Sappy” was supposedly one of Kurt Cobain’s favorite songs that he had written, but he was never satisfied with how it turned it. This probably would explain why the song was recorded several times. There was a demo by Kurt in 1988, which was titled “Sad”, then a full band version recorded in 1990 and yet another version recorded in 1990 during a session with Butch Vig. The song was also part of the Nevermind sessions and the final recording took place in 1993 during the In Utero sessions, which appears on the box set With The Lights Out. However, the final version of “Sappy” ,which was known at the time as “Verse Chorus Verse”, appeared on the No Alternative AIDS benefit compilation as an unlisted track. Fans eventually caught on and began requesting the song during Nirvana concerts.
It’s a great tune, so check out this fan video for “Sappy”. * Note: The video is actually from the tribute that Dave and Krist made for Kurt in 1994, but this fan changed the music to “Sappy”.

Well, something is up with your video because I can’t see it. Or something is up on my end. However, I LOVE this song. It’s the only Nirvana song I ever singled out on a mix tape. I usually listen to Nirvana all in one shot. But I put this on it’s own. Too bad you’re feeling down though. Or trapped I guess. Maybe you need a road trip. Those are usually one, totally useful for that trapped feeling or make you feel more alone. Hmmm, it’s a toss up risk. Anyhow, hope you feel better soon.
Also, I was going to leave a comment up above, but since I’m here… I want to see the Unity Tour and it’s not near me :( Lame. Bumbershoot might be cool though. That’s not too far.
Hey! I can see the video now. It was a slow loader I guess.

Glad you like the song, it’s in my top 5 Nirvana tracks.
Thanks for the concern, lol. I should be good next week and the week after cause I have 4 Pearl Jam shows that I can’t wait for. Plus, I still wanna make a road trip this summer.
That sucks that the Unity Tour isn’t coming near you, 311 is so good live. But, at least you have Bumbershoot.
Man, technology is a pain sometimes. I have no idea why the video took so long to load.
