Jesus & Mary Chain Announce Box Set Details

by User Imageacostill on June 27th, 2008

The Jesus and Mary Chain will release a box set on September 30 through Rhino Records.

Billboard dropped the announcement yesterday, June 26, about the box set entitled The Power of Negative Thinking: B-sides & Rarities. The four disc set will be a chronological collection of unreleased tracks, alternate versions of songs and demos spanning the band’s career. It will, however, also include 19 of the 20 tracks from the band’s 1988 compilation Barbed Wire Kisses.

The packaging also sounds pretty cool. The box set will be a 6 by 10 gatefold shell, which will also feature a 18 by 24 double sided poster filled with artwork and a family tree of the band.

You can read more details about the box set, as well as the tracklisting, at Billboard.

In other Jesus & Mary Chain news, the band is currently working on their first studio album since 1998’s Munki. There is no other info about the album at the time.

For now enjoy the video for “Head On”.

They had more than one album? For some reason, I always thought they were a one hit/one album wonder sort of band. I’m likely annoying fans by saying that. I have Hate Rock ‘N’ Roll, and I aways liked that album, but honestly had no clue they had others. Hmmm. You know, you have all Pearl Jam ads on this blog - it’s like you planned it. Wait; I see one non-PJ ad. Too funny. Let’s go see what else you’ve written lately.
