7 opinions for FYI: The Smashing Pumpkins
Oct 26, 2007 at 1:00 pm
So, all these facts but no opinion huh. Do you like them? I think they were one of the most overrated 90s bands. Maybe ‘The’ most overrated. I liked Gish and someone once put that ‘In the Arms of Sleep’ on a mix to me — so I like it. But overall they seemed to come with too much drama. I will say that I cannot believe how long they’ve been around. I had no idea they played in 88. Almost 20 years! Damn I’m old.
Hey and are you a meme slacker like me?

Well, when I usually do these FYI posts it’s because I have some sort of interest in the band. I try not to be bias during the FYI posts either.
Anyways, their not one of my favorites, but I really do like some of their music. I do agree that their a bit overrated and I personally can not stand Billy Corgan. I think he’s too arrogrant and in my opinion Eric Cartman from South Park is based on him.
I’m more of an encyclopedia of useless knowledge : )

Ah, I see all these FYI’s are more fact than opinion. Got it. Also I lied because I like one other song by them — one not on Gish. Oddly it was a single and totally overplayed but I still like it. That butterfly wing song (I don’t know the title). But that’s a good angry song.
“in my opinion Eric Cartman from South Park is based on him.” Too funny. Yet; I can see that.

“Bullet With Butterfly Wings”, it’s a good tune. I actually prefer more of their softer songs, like “Rhinoceros” or “Thirty-Three”.
Hmm, I may have to now look up where the influence for Eric Cartman came from…

A lot of drama, yes but excitement plus. Every time Corgan’s band is knocked down, it gets straight back up again.
