Since this is the first FYI of 2008, let’s jump into the dolorean and take a look back at what was going on a decade ago.

  • John Frusciante rejoins the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
  • The third Tibetan Freedom Concert takes place at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. on June 13 and 14 and featured: The Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Dave Matthews Band and more!
  • The soundtrack for the film version of Great Expectations featured: Chris Cornell’s “Sunshower”, Scott Weiland’s “Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down” and Tori Amos’ “Siren”.
  • Scott Weiland gets busted in New York City for heroin and is forced to cancel the remaining dates of his solo tour.
  • Radiohead released their rockumentary Meeting People Is Easy, which followed the band during their extensive OK Computer tour.
  • Pearl Jam returned to full scale touring after their unsuccessful battle with Ticketmaster.
  • Jack Irons leaves Pearl Jam and is replaced by former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron.
  • Alice in Chains recorded “Died” and “Get Born Again”; their last songs with frontman Layne Staley.
