Weezer Gives Hints For Upcoming Tour

Weezer Gives Hints For Upcoming Tour

Weezer’s recent webisode gives fans some hints for the cities that the band will be hitting on their upcoming tour.
The clip starts off with musically wirh “Pork and Beans” and then segues into “Troublemaker”, which is obviously another tune from their most recent release Red Album. As the music plays on fast shots of parts cities, such as Boston, New York and Philly, flash by. There are also pics of folks like John Denver and J.R. from the show Dallas, which I would assume mean Denver and Dallas.
Here’s the clip. See if you can catch any familiar shots, hopefully you …read more

Weezer – Pinkerton

Weezer – Pinkerton

I’ve been revisiting this gem of an album lately and I seriously forgot how great it was.
Pinkerton was Weezer’s second album, released on September 24, 1996. It experienced a bit of difficulties from the get go, like scattered recording time since Rivers was at Harvard and had leg surgery. Heck, the album was almost pulled off the shelves because a security firm in California, called Pinkerton’s Inc., sued the band and their label Geffen for trademark infringement. Even with these set backs behind Pinkerton, the album failed to match the success of it’s predecessor, The Blue Album and was met …read more

FYI: Weezer

FYI: Weezer

It’s a perfect time to do an FYI on Weezer, since they just released their sixth studio album this past Tuesday (June 3).

The band was formed by Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar), Matt Sharp (bass), Patrick Wilson (drums) and Jason Cropper (guitars) in 1992, supposedly on Valentine’s Day.
After 16 months together Weezer was signed by DGC (Geffen Records).
The band relocated to New York City to record their debut album at Electric Lady Studios, which was produced by the Cars Ric Ocasek.
During the recording of the album guitarist Jason Cropper left the band and was replaced by Brian Bell, who was the …read more

Ok, now for other updates on the Red Album.
I heard earlier today that the album has been pushed up from a June 24 release to June 3. Hmm, maybe the leaking of the eight tracks had something to do with it?
Also, if you pre-order the album from …read more

Weezer – Pork and Beans (Only a clip for now)

Weezer – Pork and Beans (Only a clip for now)

Weezer has released a 30 second clip of their first single, entitled “Pork and Beans”, from their forthcoming self-titled release.
The single will be released in it’s entirety on April 22.
For now you can sample the track right here.
It doesn’t sound that bad, but it’s only 30 seconds long, so it’s kinda hard to judge the track. It sounds like old school Weezer to me. The music is reminiscent of their debut self-titled album, while the lyrics remind me a little bit of Pinkerton.
We’ll just have to wait and hear what the rest of the song is like…

Hopefully, this will be better than Weezer’s last couple of albums.

New Weezer Album Out in June?

New Weezer Album Out in June?

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo left a post on the band’s official site this week which read:
“Hey Weezer punks,
We have one song left to mix and then it’s on to mastering. We should be all done very soon. Then we chill for a minute.
The album will be out in June so with any luck you will hear a new Weezer song on the radio soon. I think I know which song is the first single but I’m not sure so I can’t tell you. I’ll give you some hints, though. It’s one word, starts with a T, ends with an R and …read more

Weezer – The Christmas Song

Weezer – The Christmas Song

This is a typical Weezer song, despite the title.
It originally appeared on L.A. radio station KROQ’s 1999 Christmas compilation; but it also appeared on imports of the band’s 2001 self titled album, aka The Green Album and I think it was also a single.
Basically, it’s what we’ve come to expect from Rivers Cuomo; him being alone. However, this time poor Rivers is left beside the Christmas tree all by himself.
I know what Rivers needs for Christmas…a hug.
It’s still a cool song.
