Smells Like Alternative

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor is bringing his Year Zero project to HBO.
The plan is for Year Zero to become a two-season maxi-series for HBO. Reznor had stated that he met with HBO big wigs and pitched the idea and that it’s “been a fun thing”.

The Slip will become available in CD form on July 22, with a vinyl release on August 5.
Nine Inch Nails latest album was initially given away as a free download through the band’s website last month, which it will continue to do. In the U.S., Canada and parts of Japan, 200,000 individually numbered copies of the 2-disc set will be released. The same will occur in Europe and Australia, however, they won’t be numbered or limited. “The Perfect Drug” has been on my mind for some time now. But, since I played it on Rock Band over the weekend I just can’t get it out of my head now.
The track was written for the 1997 David Lynch flick Lost Highway, which starred Bill Pullman and Patricia Arquette. “The Perfect Drug”, as an audio release, has only appeared on the soundtrack to Lost Highway in North America. R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots have been tapped to participate in the 10th annual Voodoo Music Festival down in New Orleans from October 24-26.

It’s a pretty cool song, but should anyone really complain? I mean Trent is really sticking to this giving away music thing, which is awesome.
