Pearl Jam – All Night

Pearl Jam – All Night

I was trying real hard to avoid listening to any Pearl Jam before I see them this week, and next, but I just can’t help myself.
“All Night” has been getting a lot play recently, mainly because it’s a cool tune, and the fact that the band have been playing at some shows on their current tour. The song just received it’s live debut this past Saturday at Bonnaroo. Man, it would be awesome if they played when I see them.
Anyways, this gem of a song was an outtake from the band’s 1996 release No Code. “All Night” finally saw daylight …read more

New Music Tuesday: The Offspring, Sister Hazel

New Music Tuesday: The Offspring, Sister Hazel

It’s another Tuesday, which means new music for us to buy and enjoy. Here’s some worth mentioning releases for this week, besides that new Coldplay album, ugh.
The Offspring deliver us their 8th studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. The 12 track album is getting some decent reviews, even though it was produced by one Bob Rock. Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is also available in vinyl form, which also comes with access for a free digital download. That is a great idea, wish more bands would do that. Based on their first single, “Hammerhead”, I would say …read more

Candlebox Returns with New Album and a Tour

Candlebox Returns with New Album and a Tour

While not one of my favorite bands from the 90’s, it’s cool to see the Seattle natives return with a new album.
Candlebox will release their fourth studio album Into the Sun on July 22, which will be the band’s first album in 10 years. Into the Sun will also feature the original lineup, which hasn’t been together since 1996. The album will also feature some tracks with former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen, who was also in Candlebox from 1997 to 1999.
Besides a new album, the band will also be on the road this summer. They’ll kick off their tour …read more

FYI: Blind Melon

FYI: Blind Melon

This wonderful and summery weather makes me wanna listen to some Blind Melon. Besides, the band has reunited, released a new album earlier this year and are currently on tour. So, it’s a perfect scenario for and FYI on Blind Melon.

The band consisted of: childhood friends from Mississippi Rogers Stevens (guitar) and Brad Smith (bass) , vocalist Richard Shannon Hoon from Indiana, Pennsylvania native Christopher Thorn (guitar) and drummer Glen Graham, who was also from Mississippi.
The members met in Los Angeles and formed a band.
Before settling on Blind Melon, the band considered the names Brown Cow, Gristie, Frog, Mud Bird, …read more

STP Members Sued by Atlantic Records

STP Members Sued by Atlantic Records

Yesterday, June 12, STP members Scott Weiland and Eric Kretz were sued by their label Atlantic Records for trying to prematurely end their contract.
The two members have been accused of no longer participating in the band’s current contract with Atlantic, unless some changes were made. The other two members of the band, Rob and Dean DeLeo, have already been released by Atlantic.
You can read the full article here.
This is another reason why labels are in trouble. But, before my tangent, I do realize that it’s a business and I also realize that STP has/had a contract to fulfill. However, …read more

Garbage – #1 Crush

Garbage – #1 Crush

This is an amazingly obsessive, yet hypnotic track from Garbage. Which is pretty obvious, but here’s confirmation from front woman Shirley Manson when talking about the song:“All real love is a form of obsession, if you love someone more than anything else, that degree of exclusivity requires an abnormal amount of passion and care. And that can be positive. It’s just that keeping it short of unhealthy, short of violence, really requires a bit of moderation. You can’t let something like that take over all of your thought processes.”.
How true.
“#1 Crush” first appeared as a b-side on the band’s 1995 …read more
