I totally agree with the Jerry thing. In fact I always liked it when Jerry sang and I heard there was always some kind of rivalry between them. I’m going to play the AIC unplugged tomorrow.

Now…if only Slayer would do an unplugged session for MTV… THAT would be interesting

You Nirvana ass kissers, jeez. AIC unplugged was amazing! Ok, I never listened to the entire Nirvana unplugged and practically listened to AIC a million times, so I’m biased

Here’s the deal, and I know what I’m about to say will piss off legions of people.

Yes, Layne was a tormented soul who wrote some great lyrics and had a one-of-kind voice that no one should or could duplicate.

BUT musically, the band revolved around Jerry. He wrote most of the band’s songs. Look at the songwriting credits and you’ll see what I mean.

AND towards the end he really started to sing more. Heaven Beside You, one of the band’s last big hits, is pretty much Jerry.

William has been around long enough (it’s been almiost 10 years since I saw him tour with Jerry – 10 #$%@ years man, he’s not “new”) that I think us hardcore fans are cool with him as “the man”.

Oh yeah, Nirvana Unplugged is still the best, but AIC is second. Dirt is their best full album, but I think Jar of Flies is their best.

Maybe check out some other songs he sang. I think it will be better once they write some new tunes with him and kind of move on from the music that we know and love. I’m not saying that they should not play the old material anymore, just throw in some new stuff to make actually make William a part of the band.

I just don’t know. I mean I liked when Jerry sang but I don’t know about this newer guy. I’ll be curious to see what the outcome of a studio recording will be like. I still think their best work was Dirt and the unplugged recording was great (not as great as Nirvana unplugged), we’ll see.
