311 Working on New Album

The boys from Omaha have apparently entered the studio to begin work on album number nine. The band has been joined by Metallica producer Bob Rock, who has also worked with Motley Crue, The Offspring and Aerosmith.

For now there are no other details, but the band has stated that they will spend more time than usual in the studio with two full sessions planned. The new album could see a release date by the spring of 2009.

If you can’t wait for a new 311 album, then remember that they will be on the road this summer with Snoop Dogg and Friction Plane for the 2008 Unity Tour. Which you should check out if you’ve never seen 311 live before, because they put on an awesome show.

The tour kicks off on June 24 in Phoenix and will conclude on August 3 in Austin. The band will also appear at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on August 9-10 and will wrap their tour with a pair of shows in the Aloha State on August 15 and 16.

For a full list of tour dates check out 311’s official site.

Check out the video for one of my favorite 311 songs “Beautiful Disaster”.
