Since 311 are coming back with a tour and a new album this year, let’s do an FYI on the boys from Omaha, Nebraska.

After a unsuccessful stint in L.A., the band moved back to Omaha and teamed up with P-Nut.
Their first show was opening up for Fugazi on June 10, 1990.
In 1991 guitarist Jim Watson with SA Martinez.

The Police are planning one final tour this summer in North America and Europe, after this it’s all over.
The band, who made a boat load of cash last year with their reunion tour, will once again hit the road on May 1 in Ottawa. They’ll play some more North American dates in May, before heading to Europe in June and then returning to North America to wrap things up by August.
The Police will play mostly amphitheaters, with a few arenas, as opposed to last year’s stadium tour (which was great, but the sound in certain stadiums just sound like garbage) …read more

Portishead – Sour Times

Portishead – Sour Times

I’ve been on a little Portishead kick lately. I’m sure you have to remember this band from Bristol, England once you hear “Sour Times”.
“Sour Times” appears on the band’s 1994 debut album Dummy. The track was also remixed and released as a double CD in Canada in 1995, along with the track “Glory Box”, for Glory Times. Glory Times features four remixes of “Sour Times”, which are “Sour Sour Times”, “Lot More”, “Sheared Times” and “Airbus Reconstruction”.
The video for “Sour Times” contains clips from the short film “To Kill A Dead Man”, which was an idea the band came up with …read more

Velvet Revolver Cancels Australian Tour

Velvet Revolver Cancels Australian Tour

VR frontman Scott Weiland checked himself into rehab last week, but the band was apparently going to go ahead with their Australian tour, which was to run from February 15-20.
The band, however, has now cancelled these dates, which were already make up dates for the band missing shows in Australia last December. As of now Velvet Revolver’s dates for the Dubai Desert Rock Fest on March 8 and their U.K. tour are still going ahead.
See, I told you so last week in Scott Weiland Back In Rehab.
Anyways, this was a wise decision, Scott needs to get better first. It was …read more

Foo Fighters Win Two Grammys

Dave Grohl and company snagged two Grammys at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards; the band also performed with an orchestra consisting of winners from YouTube’s “My Grammy Moment”, who were conducted by Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.
The Foos won Best Rock Album for their awesome Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, as well as, Best Hard Rock Performance for “The Pretender”.

A lot is going on with R.E.M. right now, as they’re gearing up for the release of Accelerate and a tour this spring. So, let’s revisit a previous FYI on the Athens, GA natives.
FYI: R.E.M.
For now, enjoy this performance of “Man on the Moon” from their induction into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame from last year. As if this song couldn’t get any cooler, the band was joined by one Eddie Vedder. Sweet.
