STP Reunion?

STP Reunion?

Former Stone Temple Pilots/current Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has promised an STP reunion!
Weiland performed a solo set at the Bay Point All Stars Gala in South Beach, Flordia ( which benefits the Bay Point School and the AROD Foundation) on January, 19.
From the stage Weiland stated to the audience to expect an STP reunion in the coming months. This past summer he told the Washington Post “We wanted to be played on rock radio for the next 20-30 years. That’s actually happening. The only thing that’s left unfinished is the completion of the story. I feel that there could be a better …read more

Mr. Bungle – California

Mr. Bungle – California

I recently rediscovered this gem of an album by one of the more unique bands from the 90’s.
You may actually be asking yourself right now “You the bleep is Mr. Bungle?”; which is a fair question.
Mr. Bungle was the first band of former Faith No More frontman Mike Patton. When Patton landed the gig as lead singer for Faith No More, he remained in Mr. Bungle. He is actually wearing a Mr. Bungle t-shirt in the video for “Epic”.
Anyways, California was the third and final major label album from the band released on July 13, 1999; it was supposed to be …read more

Robert Plant dislikes Radiohead, RHCP

Robert Plant dislikes Radiohead, RHCP

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant gave his opinion on Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers while out drinking with a lady friend in London this past weekend.
While at a pub Plant apparently demanded that the music on the jukebox be changed, because it wasn’t to his liking. From there it seems that Plant went on a bit of a tangent. He labeled Radiohead as “rhyming crap” and compared the Chili Peppers music to nursery rhymes.
I don’t know why, but these stories always amuse me. I get a kick out of musicians bashing each other. It’s just silly.
But, I don’t get why he …read more

FYI: Screaming Trees

FYI: Screaming Trees

It’s a cold and cloudy day, so it’s only fitting to do an FYI on the bands from the Northwest.

The band formed in 1985.
Mark Lanegan (vocals), Van Connor (bass), Gary Lee Connor (guitar) went to high school together in Ellensburg, WA; which is 90 miles away from Seattle.
Lanegan was originally the band’s drummer, but soon switched positions with Mark Pickerel.
The band got their name from a guitar distortion pedal.
In 1985 the Screaming Trees recorded their first demo.
The band’s first album, Clairvoyance, was released in 1986 on Velvetone Records.
In 1987 the band released their second album, Even If and Especially When, …read more

Check Out Radiohead’s Free Show

Check Out Radiohead’s Free Show

If you missed out on watching the webcast of Radiohead’s free performance yesterday, there is no need to cry, because you can watch the entire show right here.
If you didn’t know anything about this free show, well here’s what happened…
The band announced a free show yesterday morning, which would obviously cause chaos. The performance was scheduled to take place at the Rough Trade East shop in London, but was switched to the 93 Feet East venue over safety concerns. However, once the band took the stage everything seemed to move on rather smoothly, despite a couple of mistakes during the performance.
The band played their …read more

Pearl Jam – Thumbing My Way

Pearl Jam – Thumbing My Way

I was reluctant to make another Pearl Jam post, but I seriously can’t get this song out of my head right now.
“Thumbing My Way” is off of 2002’s Riot Act, and in my opinion one of the greatest songs that the band have created.
The lyrics are what make this song so great. My interpretation is that its about a person who lost a lost loved one, whether by something like a break up or death. This person then tries to run from the past in an attempt to forget about the person they lost, but in the end they realize that …read more

Courtney Love Chooses Roles For “Heavier Than Heaven”

Courtney Love Chooses Roles For “Heavier Than Heaven”

So apparently Courtney Love is now a casting director after stating her decision for the actors to play herself and Kurt Cobain in the upcoming flick about the Nirvana frontman.
Love stated that she wants Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson, The Notebook) to portray Kurt and Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Ghost World) to play herself.
Ok, Gosling is actually a good idea, but Scarlett Johansson playing Courtney Love? I guess she really is out of her mind or still on some sort of drug. Like most of Love’s comments you ignore it by telling yourself that 99% of what she says is absolute garbage.
Love, …read more

Eddie Vedder Wins A Golden Globe

Eddie Vedder Wins A Golden Globe

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder won a Golden Globe last night for the song “Guaranteed” from the wonderful Into The Wild soundtrack.
Although the show wasn’t aired, like most of us seriously care about watching it, the winners were announced via press conference style; and no I did not watch that either, but did check out the winners late last night to check in on Vedder.
“Guaranteed” was previously up for a Critic’s Choice Award, but lost out to “Falling Slowly” from the film Once.
Next up for Eddie and “Guaranteed” are the Grammy Awards next month, and hopefully the Academy Awards.
I’ve said …read more
