Eddie Vedder and The Million Dollar Bashers – “All Along The Watchtower”

Eddie Vedder and The Million Dollar Bashers – “All Along The Watchtower”

Eddie is just about everywhere these days, including this take on the Dylan classic, which appears on the upcoming soundtrack for the Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
Vedder is joined by the all-star band The Million Dollar Bashers, which features Nels Cline from Wilco, Lee Ranaldo, Steve Shelly from Sonic Youth, Tony Garnier, John Medeski and Smokey Hormel.
It’s a pretty good rendition, which you can check out here.

FYI: The Black Crowes

FYI: The Black Crowes

A day late, but still good, let’s check out an FYI on the Atlanta natives.

The band formed in 1984 under the name Mr. Crowes Garden.
In 1989 the band recorded a demo that would eventually land them a deal with Rick Rubin’s American Recordings.
Their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, was released in January 1990 and would go on to sell over 3 million copies.
To support Shake Your Money Maker the band opened up for ZZ Top, but were fired after making sarcastic remarks about commercialism, since the tour was sponsored by Miller Beer.
In August of 1990, the band was part …read more

The album is scheduled for a December 11, however there is currently no information on song titles or anything else for that matter.
Meanwhile, Weezer is still at work on their follow up to 2005’s Make Believe.

Radiohead – In Rainbows

Radiohead – In Rainbows

Maybe by now the hype surrounding Radiohead’s seventh album, In Rainbows, has somewhat died down, which is why I waited to post a review. I even waited until Friday to download it.
After a couple of listens, I would describe In Rainbows as a mellow album, where electronica and reggae perfectly meet. In my opinion, this may be the band’s best work since the masterpiece OK Computer.
So far I’m really digging the hip moving opener “15 Step” and the more rocking second track “Bodysnatchers”. But I’m really enjoying the more slower tracks, which are simple and beautiful, such as “Videotape”, “Nude”, …read more

Soundgarden – Hands All Over

Soundgarden – Hands All Over

This was the mighty Soundgarden’s song about environmentalism from 1989’s Louder Than Love.
Apparently the lyrics, “baby brother, put your hands, you’re gonna kill your brother”, mean that the mother is the Earth and baby brother is humanity. Even if with lyrics that are about protecting the Earth, the music still rocks because it’s classic Soundgarden.
The reason why I mention this song is because it’s Blog Action Day and for more info you should check out Hippie Sounds, where there is a list of other B5er’s doing their green thing and lots of other cool greeness.

FYI: Nine Inch Nails

FYI: Nine Inch Nails

Since Nine Inch Nails are now free agents, it seems like a good time for some FYI on them…they also have great music for this time of year.

Michael Trent Reznor was born on May, 17 1965 in Mercer, PA.
At age five he began playing piano.
In 1985 Reznor moves to Cleveland and gets a job as a janitor at Right Track Studio.
While working at Right Track, Reznor records nine demos that would be known as Purest Feeling in 1988.
These tracks would become Pretty Hate Machine.
Pretty Hate Machine was released on October 20, 1989 through TVT Records.
To support Pretty Hate Machine NIN …read more

Black Market Radio in Baltimore

Hey Baltimore…Black Market Radio is taking over your city this weekend!
BMR is a great band from New York City, fronted by Chris Cornell’s brother Peter. But even if they weren’t fronted by a Cornell, they would still rock. So make sure you check these guys out.

Chris Cornell – Can’t Change Me

Chris Cornell – Can’t Change Me

What a great song from Chris Cornell’s 1999 solo debut Euphoria Morning.
I know that I was shocked when I first heard “Can’t Change Me”, because it was vastly different than anything I heard from Soundgarden. It’s a shame that this was his first and only single released from Euphoria Morning, because it’s just a fantastic album.
I’ve always loved this song and probably always will. It has such a great premise, you know about this powerful that can do anything except change another person.
If you want something really cool, then you should check out the French version that was found on …read more
